Our Story

A boutique family owned vineyard in the heart of Broke, Hunter Valley.

Beckels Vineyard, located in picturesque Broke Fordwich wine region of the Hunter Valley, is a family-owned estate grown boutique vineyard. Located on the Wollombi Brook, the property is surrounded byundulatinghills and the nearby Yengo National Park. Owned and operated by a husband and wife team Ian and Rebecca with the help of their parents, three daughters, friends and dog Mr Toohey, the vineyard has been a labour of love and a lot of hard work.

The origin of the name Beckels and logo comes from Rebecca’s nickname, given to her by her daughter’s friends. The logo is a Bowerbird found on the property and represents their surname, Bower.

In 1993, the property was known as Cockfighter Creek Vineyard and produced award-winning Semillon. Following their passion for wine, Ian and Rebecca purchased the property 6 years ago as a rural retreat. They fell in love with Broke and all it has to offer, with its picturesque countryside and the friendly local Broke community. They thought that a few vines at the entrance to the property would look nice and create them a hobby…and that’s where it started. The vineyards were built and planted by the family in two stages. The Shiraz and the Chardonnay were planted first and two years later they planted Fiano & Barbera both Italian varietals, with 2024 the exciting first vintage of these two varietals.

Beckels Vineyard’s wine maker Daniel Binet one of the Hunter Valley’s most recognised young winemakers has produced them some exceptional wines.

The family team are happy to now drink the fruits of their labours and they hope you enjoy them as much as they do.
